What Is Reiki Healing?

Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or hands-off) energy healing practice that supports your body’s natural ability to restore balance. During a session, universal life force energy is channelled through the practitioner to you, helping to calm the nervous system, release energetic blocks and support emotional, mental and physical wellbeing.

What Happens During a Reiki Session

In a typical in-person session, we begin with a short check-in to understand how you’re feeling and what you’d like support with. You then lie fully clothed on a treatment couch while I place my hands lightly on or just above your body. You may feel warmth, tingling, deep relaxation or simply a sense of peace as the energy flows where it is needed most.

Why me?

I have spent years mastering traditional Japanese Reiki, maintaining a consistent daily practice that integrates Reiki symbols and the precepts into my everyday life. By staying active in the Reiki community and working closely with my teachers, I ensure my approach remains rooted in authentic tradition and lived experience. Reiki has profoundly shifted my own perspective, and it is a privilege to share that transformation with those I support.

 

Beyond Reiki, I have expanded my studies to include Qi-Gong, yoga, and meditation, all ancient practices that share the same foundations as energy healing. By working with movement, breath, and focus, I have learned to balance my internal energy and clear the pathways through which it flows. My journey is centered on maintaining this inner harmony, and I am deeply committed to helping you discover that same sense of vitality and flow in your own life.

How does a Reiki session feel?

Most people experience a deep sense of relaxation and warmth during a session. You might feel a gentle tingling or simply a quiet stillness as your body rests. Whether we meet in person or connect online for a distance session, the experience is designed to be calming and restorative.

Can I receive Reiki online?

Yes, distance Reiki is just as effective as in-person treatments and can be done from the comfort of your own home via Zoom. Energy is not limited by physical distance, allowing you to settle into a familiar space while I channel the healing energy to you remotely.

Is Reiki safe?

Reiki is a completely non-invasive and gentle practice that is safe for everyone. It works in harmony with any medical treatments or therapies you may already be receiving. My role is to provide a supportive and professional space for your personal relaxation and wellbeing.

What should I wear?

You remain fully clothed throughout the entire session, so it is best to wear something loose and comfortable. If we are meeting in person, you will simply remove your shoes before lying on the treatment couch. For online sessions, ensure you are in a warm, private space where you can lie down comfortably.

How many sessions are recommended?

While a single session can offer a wonderful sense of peace, many clients find that a series of three or more sessions helps to maintain a deeper balance. We can discuss your needs and move at a pace that feels right for you. There is no set requirement, and you are welcome to book as needed.

Do I need to do anything?

Your only job is to relax and be open to the experience. There is no need to 'clear your mind' or meditate perfectly during the session. Many clients actually find they drift into a light sleep, which is a wonderful sign that the body is entering a state of deep rest.

How do I prepare for my session?

I recommend staying well-hydrated and avoiding heavy meals or caffeine immediately before we meet. Try to allow yourself a few minutes of quiet time after the session concludes to ground yourself. Whether online or in person, arriving with an open mind is the best way to begin your healing journey.
